I love the private balcony on the river!!! I feel like I'm living in the mountains with modern conviences. Most comfortable visit I've had in the Smokies.
We really enjoyed staying there! We like having the balcony with the lawn chairs to enjoy the creek outback and watch the wildlife. We also liked the convenience of the Marathon station across the street and a short 10 min walk into town. Plus we didn't have the noise of downtown to listen to in our room. We will definately book with you again.
The breakfast wasn't there
The view from the balcony was nice. We were traveling with a truck and trailer. There was no parking for the trailer, however they also owned the Days Inn down the road and allowed us to park the trailer there. Not very convienent but it worked. The location was nice.
We did not receive what was offered through the Internet. The free breakfast was approx a 5 min walk. Once you arrived at the Days Inn, there were 5 tables set up in the lobby for breakfast. This did not accommodate the amount of people for both hotels. Since we were mot staying at the Days Inn, we could not take our breakfast back to our room, therefore we had to stand and eat. There was no pool. If you wanted to swim, you had to walk to the Days Inn to swim. There was no soap or shampoo in the rooms. There was no coffee in the rooms. When we asked for coffee, we were told they did not have any coffee. There was no wifi signal in our room. The shower did not work properly. The fridge froze all our food.
The location, the price, the staff & the view. We loved the balcony & the size of the room.
it was clean and nice location
the bed was wore out sunk in the middle needs to be replace
Our room was very clean and comfortable. The balcony overlooking the river was so relaxing. The maintenance man, Scott, was very friendly and helpful. Great location- right on the trolley route with a stop right out front. Very nice after a long day shopping and walking the strip. Not right in the middle of all business of the strip but close enough for a leisurely walk in and far enough out to avoid the noise.
The front desk person was very standoffish. Really didn't explain anything about the free wifi, breakfast, trolley stop, or much else. Then when we asked gave us incorrect information. The room didn't have any towels when we got into it- but was quickly taken care of with a phone call. There was some pealing paint above the shower but it didn't impede taking a shower.
The view of river from patio
Parking spots very small tight. Breakfast is in a different hotel. Staff not very informative.
Staff was helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean. You can easily walk to downtown Gatlinburg from the hotel.
Hotel is old but clean.
Been going there for years. Staff was nice. Breakfast was good . Nice view of creek.
Room was dirty. No ice pail. No coffee for the coffee maker. One light didn't have lampshade. The floors were very dirty. I realize it is an older facility but there is no excuse for dirt. We have been going there for years. Time for a change.
The terrace on the river was awesome, lots of privacy, the sound of roaring water completely cancels the traffic noise from the frontside road.
Hard mattress, room spacious but dark.
Creek front view love the sound of runing water
We always stay in the old section because the balcony is private and right on the water, no parking lot view to contend with or other balconies to deter you from wearing your pj'S.. Trees across the river make you feel as if you are in a secluded place offering total privacy. We love the personal parking space so we don't have to pack up in the sun. (That is one thing old fat women hate) Free Wi-Fi is an added luxury that we search for with reservation company. The staff is nicer and more helpful than any other place we have stayed in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. The convenience of the trolley, a deli, stores for quick supplies, a show, and restaurants is exceptional. We love the "old" Rocky Waters. We would turn down a free stay at many other places just to stay at Rocky Waters.
When you choose to stay in the "old" section you accept wear and tear. This is no problem for us. We did notice a shortage of supplies but the staff bent over backwards to bring us what we needed as soon as it was available. No complaints.
Balconies on river side is a little more than you can expect for the price. Room is clean and worth its price, ceilings were a little low though.
Service was a little "I don't really want to work here". Breakfast is in another hotel cross the river (5 minute walk). Gatlinburg is way too touristic, but that's not the hotels fault.
I gew up staying at the Rocky Waters. My parents stayed there 10-12 times a year for many years which included 2 to 3 weeks of family vacation in the summer. I thought of Gatlinburg as my second home. I like the Rocky Waters for its balconies over the soothing river, the ability to feed the ducks, and for its location which is a bit separate from the hustle and bustle of busy downtown Gatlinburg. It has always been a comfortable and relaxing place full of wonderful memories for me. I enjoyed showing it to my husband who had never been there. This was my first visit in over 23 years and I hope it won't take me that long to revisit but when I do, I'll stay at the Rocky Waters!
While certain aspects of the motel showed some signs of wear and tear and the door to the balcony tended to get stuck in the high humidity, the bed was very comfortable and the room was scrupulously clean. My husband's only complaint was that it was not well-lit. This didn't bother me in the least. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and will come again if I can talk my husband into making the 6 hour journey from our home in Georgia,
Leaving the window open and listening to the water. Close to everything. quietness of the other guests.
Bathroom was smaller than I would have liked it to be.
